Lakeland man allegedly threatens to kill sister

A Lakeland man was charged with felony terroristic threats last week after he allegedly threatened to kill his sister.

James Staricha, 18, was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff's office Nov. 6 after his sister called police about the alleged threat. The woman told police she feared for her life and she felt Staricha could act out the threats at anytime.

Officers later located the man at the Freedom Gas Station in Lakeland and confronted him about the allegations. Police say the man began "flailing his arms" and started getting defensive.

According to the criminal complaint, Staricah said he was going to blow himself up, among other suicidal talk.

In convicted on the charge, he faces a maximum sentence of five years.

Domestic disturbance

A Shoreview, Minn., man was arrested Friday night on the charges of making terroristic threats and fifth-degree domestic assault after he allegedly assaulted a woman on the 300 block of Elm Street.

Police said the man arrived at the home to pick up his kids and an argument ensued. Police say the man poked the woman in the face with his finger and pinched her arm. Police said the suspect also made innuendos that he was going to "kill her" if she called police.

He was booked and held in Washington County Jail. Formal charges are pending.

An affair uncovered

A woman on the 200 block of Harriet Street North in Stillwater apparently caught her husband having an affair and confronted him, asking him to leave the home. He refused.

The woman called police to get assistance in making her husband leave. He refused and told police he didn't think it was fair for him to leave. Soon, the man - who police say was agitated and upset - agreed to leave.

False alarm

Police responded to a call of five juveniles fighting in Lowell Park in downtown Stillwater around 7 p.m. on Friday.

When police arrived they found no fight - just the juveniles wrestling and "playing around."

Missing street signs

A Washington County deputy on Nov. 12 reported missing street signs on two West Lakeland Township roads.

The intersection of Oakgreen Avenue North and 21st Street North did not have street signs, the officer reported. He notified the county's public works department. Police do not know what happened to the signs.

Leaves dumped

A resident on the 2700 block Hawthorne Lane reported someone had taken the leaves out of his dumpster and thrown them in the street.

The complainant told police he just wanted it reported. Police have no suspects at this time.

Intoxicated man

A 48-year-old man from Wilson, Wis., was arrested on Nov. 10 on the charges on disorderly conduct and trespassing after police found him hiding in the backyard of a house on 500 block of Harriet Street South in Stillwater.

When police found the man, he told police he was looking for his black lab. Police were called to the scene after a woman called and said the man was banging and pounding on her door and window. Police say the woman was the man's ex-girlfriend. The man had a registered blood alcohol level of .28.

Police found a handgun and black lab in the man's vehicle.

Stolen video games

Someone broke into a house on the 700 block of Holcome Street South in Stillwater on Nov. 11 and stole a Sony PlayStation 3 along with several videogames.

The estimated value of the theft was more than $1,300. Police are investigating the case.
