Bikinis vs. Breast Cancer at the Freight House
Events to raise money for 1 in 8 Foundation
The Freight House in downtown Stillwater will be host to Bikinis vs. Breast Cancer each Thursday until Oct. 8.
The first event was held last Thursday, and there will be two more preliminary evens - Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 - before the Thursday, Oct. 8 finale.
All proceeds from the events go to the 1 in 8 Foundation, a group dedicated to providing women with mammograms and screenings, among other services.
The 1 in 8 Foundation is focused on early detection. It was created by writer/producer Ken Vrana, who was working for Paul McCartney's breast cancer charity, and it is staffed almost entirely by volunteers.
Doors for Bikinis vs. Breast Cancer open at 6 p.m. and the contests start at 7 p.m.
The grand prize winner of the Bikini vs. Breast Cancer contest wins a cruise for two on the 2010 "Groove Cruise" from Miami to the Bahamas. Other prizes for participants include a professional photo shoot, designer purses and spa days. There will also be other random drawings that take place during each event.
Cost to compete in the contest is $50. Bring two friends and compete for free. Admission is $10 at the door. Raffle tickets are $20
